Traditional Music: Something to Sing and Ring About!

Many have said that one of the most pleasant, rewarding and challenging activities you can be part of is singing in a choir. At American Lutheran Church we are blessed to offer numerous opportunities for adults, youth and children to participate in wonderful choral and instrumental music. Some of the congregation’s most dedicated people are the musicians.

SPROUTS CHOIR for pre-K — Choir children will be introduced to music through pitch matching, singing of simple Christian songs, rhythm instruments, movement, and other fun activities utilizing the curriculum, Growing in Grace. Each week will focus on a theme, coordinating with scripture. The children will be scheduled to sing for worship about four times during the season — not emphasizing performance, but instead having fun exploring music. Sprouts Choir will meet on Mondays and follow the public school and American Lutheran School schedule of vacations and breaks. Contact Minister of Music, David Sherman through the church office for more information.

K’MOTION CLUB is ALC’s Wednesday after-school program for kids in grades K-4, combining activities and choir.  Students meet from 3:15 – 4:30 PM for snacks, energetic games, and to learn to worship God through song and movement. Contact Minister of Music, David Sherman or Children’s Ministry leaders, Debbie Smith or Kathy Lilley through the church office for more info.

LEAGUE 56 is our after-school ministry to 5th and 6th graders. Students meet on Wednesdays from 1:30 – 3:30 PM at The Rock, ALC’s student outreach facility at 655 Talwatha Drive.  League 56 programming includes tutoring, games, and discipleship.  Choir will be offered from 3:45 – 4:15 PM in the Choir Room at ALC for those 5th and 6th graders who would like to participate.

Newcomers are always welcome! There is also an opportunity for instrumental and vocal soloists and small groups in leadership capacities in the worship services.
